FLORENCE AND FASHION

Florence is one of the capitals of fashion in Italy, along with Milan and Rome. Some of the most important fashion designers come from Florence: Ferragamo, Gucci, Pucci, Capucci, Cavalli and Coveri.

Here, it’s possible to visit three important fashion designers’ museums: Ferragamo’s Museum with its fancy shoes, Gucci’s Museum with its elegant bags and Capucci’s Museum with its sculpture-dresses.

A wide selection of dresses and accessories from the eighteenth century to the present day is shown in the Costume Gallery at the Pitti Palace.

With his 6000 pieces that include ancient and modern garments, accessories and costumes, it may be considered the only fashion museum in Italy and one of the most important in the world.
